November 30, 2007 The Last Day

November 30, 2007

This is the last day of my 4th time through my meditation ccycle – And it is a real hook; makes me rethink the rest.  To me it’s like a Law of Distraction — It is fundamental; I’ll say it simply – You speak ‘what’; God worries about ‘how.’.. Here’s a subset of it: I keep my mind and thoughts off “this world” and I place my entire focus on God within…..

And at the same time, I do what I do – sometimes my coaching, my marketing, my studies about joint ventures, about teleseminars, and so on.  I know I live in “this world” and I also live in the subtle domain– The challenge is  to not think about it — Focus on “what”, bless God for handling “how”.

Man proposes; God disposes; Man plans; God laughs.  Man markets; God sells.
I blogvertise; God – in your visage – buys

November 29, 2007 The Best Use of Time

November 29, 2007

Last night my seminar was on making the best use of your time – what people call time management  and others call productivity management.  Seminars are driven by the questions raised by the participants.  I expected that peop0le would want to understand what system they could use  and what tips I could provide (like reading emails only once or twice a day).  But the key questions were about dealing with wanting to avoid things and, of course, dealing with procrastination.

These subjects defeat systemetizing – In fact, they demonstrate that “another system just doesn’t work…”  My suggestion for the procrastinator is that she find an accountability partner – someone to have a 5 minute phone conversation every day: 2 minutes each: “Here’s what I will accomplish today; 30 seconds each:  I did what I said I’d do.  There’s no judgement, just someone who will hold your result.

Avoidance is more difficult – probably very individualized, what are you avoiding? In this case, it was learning technical material.  Seems to me that people avoid that because they’re convinced they can’t do it and have a history that validates that.  So what’s needed is to learn that they can learn.  We all can, though are convinced we can’t by school experiences – by the very place that should teach them they can!!!

I’m learning to broaden the scope of my teleseminars.  The next free 6-session seminar nicely starts the new year on January 7th.  Sign up on my website (www.michaellipp.com)

November 28, 2007 Practicing Practices

November 28, 2007

This morning I drove Diamond to school…a slight dislocation.  Over this year I’ve developed a number of daily practices.  They’re not quite habits (like I don’t think of brushing my teeth as a daily practice – I just do it)  Here they are:

I read a text to meditate on (I’m reading John Randolph Price’s Rhe Abundance Book, which I see as a beautiful way of thinking about The Law of Attraction. There’s always a phrase that catches me – Today’s is that my consciousness of the  Spirit within me… is the Divine power to restore the years the locusts have eaten– I love that.

Then I meditate for 15 minutes. After breakfast (just fruit) I go to the gym, except weekends. Then I log on, check my calendar, check my email – usually 50 or so and write this.  I speak my affirmations and set out my day’s plans.

At night, before I shut down, I fill my calendar with anything from my day that’s not there & quickly check tomorrow.  I again say my affirmations – I think of them as bringing the future present. Then I consciously express my gratitude for my life and go to sleep.

The one practice I’m working on is to include an hour of study each day – can’t figure out how to make that decision real and will today (now that I’m conscious of it) going to make it a goal and corresponding affirmation.  I am repeating yesterday’s invitation:

November 27, 2007 Compunding Errors and Compounding Wins

November 27, 2007

Two days ago I I lost a day and I wrote about it yesterday…But I dated it the day after my lost day —compunding my blunder..Finally got it right today. Interesting how I did that and I suspect that we often do that; make a mistake when correcting another.. I noticed years ago that we most often wipe out our hard drive when backing it up.

November 25, 2007 4th time through

November 26, 2007

I am doing a particular cycle of meditations, one each day for ten days, repeated four times.  I am in the middle of my fourth time through and I’ve become attached to this.  What if I continued to repeat?  If not, what should I replace this with?  I ask because this frames my day, creates a background for me.

On a different subject — I am forced (despite a long history in opposition) to acknowledge the Philadelphia Eagles.  They lost last night to the Patriots, but it was a most honorable loss – They were 24 point underdogs and NE eeked out a 31-28 win.  They were well trained, well prepared… It was the true definition of a moral victory.  And their back-up quarterback was sensational and can easily replace McNabb.

I say this after not  watching football during the day..  I am breaking away from it.  My recent attention to team keeps me interested.  Every play requires the integrated performance of 11 men – We are inevitable drawn to a few key performers on both offense and defense – This dilutes our attention and our ability to see team.  From time to time the analysts demonstrate how the key performers couldn’t do that without the rest of the team…but it’s mostly invisible.  And we are also kept invisible to the hierarchy of coaching that has the team play – the overall plan set by the head coach, how that is reflected by the offensive and defensive coaches and then to the coaches of the component coaches:  the line coaches, the quarterback coach, the offensive and defensive backfield coaches, and so on…And further in the background – the conditioning coach, etc.

We have mostly one coach.

November 24, 2007 A Lost Day

November 26, 2007

Internet did not come up until 7pm this evening and I still have to post my essays, usually delivered on Mondays – They’re written, but I’m in a cocoon.  Oh, well — I’ve become so dependent on the computer – I can backup my files, but have not paid any attention to backing up my connectivity.I’ve become resistant to off-line – interesting how I get sucked in to the current cultural norms.   Feh!

November 24, 2007 Here Comes the Sun

November 24, 2007

Because I can get addicted to Utube – Someone sent me a video of Nina Simone – very rare, from 1962…  and the Utubers are clever enough to hook related videos on the same page – so I’ve been listening to Nina, including her cover of the Beatles Here Comes the Sun…  Not bad for today – The trees have changed Very Late this year… the trees should be bare by now; they’re not.  And the colors are spectacular; the trees glow!

Yesterday my family gathered to celebrate our day after Thanksgiving – 19 adults and 6 young ones (plus one now clearly an adult –Arthur’s 4/5 inches taller than I am and he’s still growing!)…Loving and close.  All families should be this lucky -  And today is sunny & glow-y.  All right!

I just haven’t been able to stop watching – It’s become a Nina Simone concert — I haven’t listened to her in so long.

November 23, 2007 But

November 23, 2007

Quick writing – I’m expecting 18 or 19 adults, together with 7 grand kids (I say 18 or 19, because Arthut is unquestionably an adult)

Anyhow, I’ve been musing on gratitude – it is the season for it… a shame that gratitude needs a season; it is so fundamental.  I speak my gratefulness every night.  Anyhow, for some rerason, I seized on one of the great things I got from Landmark Education (back when it was est – in 1978) – So simple, so profound.

Turn your buts into andsBut creates problems..  I had a great time, but…But makes everything that comes before it false or wrong…I love you, but…  But is an evil word.  It tends to put an excuse up front, softening the blow in advance…

Anyhow, I have to finish cooking and cleaning.  I love to cook and clean and it’s going to be hard to do today.  Happy next day, all.

November 22, 2007 again Again

November 22, 2007

Somewhere Imissed a day – I decided that today, Thanksgiving, was November 23rd – Don’t know when – Just saw that  I thought yesterday was the 22nd.  Meaning this journal will have two November 22nds.

What’s ironic is that the next session of my teleseminar is on time management or productivity management or – as I think of it – making the best use of your time. Fortunately, my premise is that we all screw this up from time to time, so I have validated my premise.

I know we all screw it up because we now hear multi-tasking as a very common word — never existed pre-computers.  And, clearly the answer to time management is to do more than one thing at once – too bad it can’t be done.

Happy Thanksgiving, folks.  May you eat all you want without ever getting sick.

November 22, 2007 Turkey Lurkey

November 22, 2007

It occurs to me that in 26 years, today will be 11/22/33 – I wonder about the things that occur to me.
Ol’ Turkey Lurkey was one of the creatures who bought into Chicken Little’s assertion that the sky was falling.  I am clear that life as we know it is changing, but I am equally clear that the planet will survive – I hope and work that many of our habits, policies, institutions and behaviors won’t.

Nancy and I celebrate the day after Thanksgiving.  Tomorrow, we saw some years ago that my children visit the other sides of their families:  my ex-wife or their in-laws.  Seems to me that many people are faced with the same problem – Two turkey dinners or one misses out.  So tomorrow we just give thanks and relax. On Friday, the family gathers – we count 18 – 6 children,7 grandchildren and 5 mates – does not include 3 cats, 3 dogs and one turtle named Einstein.
